Your Pao-tzu Wen-ch’I quote reminds me of an image I have that when we are young we are sitting in the middle of a narrow stream and can pick up anything that comes floating by that is of interest. As we get older, the stream get wider and more turbulent, and so many things rush past and cannot be reached. C’est la vie.
