Musings from the Moonroom

Thoughts on Art, Inspiration, Creativity and Spirit

I’d like to be
under the sea
in an octopus’s garden in the shade.
-Richard Starkey

Here is Quark.  I posted an unfinished picture of him last month.  Since then I’ve added a few embellishments, cured him in the oven, and added an antique wash.

Here is Quark as he appeared in July:  Quark

And here is Quark the completed:

For some reason he reminds me of a sea urchin.  Perhaps a little creature who lives in a sea anemone.

We would be warm
below the storm
in our little hideaway beneath the waves.
Resting our heads
on the sea bed
in an octopus’s garden
near a cave.
We would sing and dance around
because we know we can’t be found.
I’d like to be
under the sea
in an octopus’s garden
in the shade.

  1. Reminds me of childhood days when i think of the yellow submarine movie/music. Decades ago, i did see a real octopus underneath a boat from far away when i was body surfing at Kapalua Bay, Maui Island and naturally, i was intrigued at the very sight of a live octopus~Until a local boy had me eat some pickled octopus tentacles and out of polite courtesy i ate the rubbery substance at great length i might a dd/. All this came back to mind when i gazed upon your little polymer clay creature of course! he he he

  2. This looks so delightful and tactile. Makes me want to reach out and gently feel all the textures. 🙂

  3. He is so cute, he almost looks cuddley! I love him!
